Space Gal Jill was a personal project exploring and art style I am unfamiliar with, inspired by 1950s sci-fi. I wanted to create a world not commonly seen in games, re-imagining ideas into a quirky personality. The project let me explore visual design for games and try new approaches to animation.
Space Gal Jill's style is inspired in places by those of the Hanna-Barbera cartoons, especially The Flintstones and The Jetsons, and 1950s sci-fi. These themes are not commonly seen in games, and would force me to move beyond my comfort zone.
Space Gal Jill is built on a tileable system to help in the rapid creation of levels.
